FAQ
What size is A4 paper?
210 × 297 mm (8.27 × 11.69 in) — slightly narrower and taller than US Letter. Every A size is half the one above it, and they all share the same 1:√2 aspect ratio.
How much does a sheet of paper weigh?
Weight = area in m² × gsm. A standard 80 gsm A4 sheet weighs about 4.99 g, so a ream of 500 sheets comes to roughly 2.5 kg.
A4 vs US Letter — which should I use?
Use A4 everywhere except the US, Canada, and Mexico, which standardize on Letter (216 × 279 mm). Designing for both means keeping about 5 mm of safety margin on all sides.
