FAQ

How do I convert US quarts to pounds?

Pick the substance first, then apply its density: mass = volume × density, or volume = mass ÷ density for the reverse direction. This calculator runs both steps — density and unit conversion — in one go.

Why does the answer change when I pick a different substance?

Because US quarts measures volume while pounds measures weight, and every substance packs a different mass into the same space. One US cup of water weighs about 236.6 g, while a cup of spooned flour is closer to 125 g.

How accurate are the density values?

Densities are typical room-temperature (~20 °C) values; dry goods use common spooned-in packing. Real products vary a few percent with brand, humidity, and temperature — plenty accurate for cooking and estimates, not for custody transfer.
