FAQ

How do you calculate horsepower from torque?

HP = torque (lb-ft) × rpm ÷ 5252. That constant is why every engine's torque and horsepower curves cross at exactly 5252 rpm on a dyno chart.

What is the difference between hp, PS, and kW?

1 mechanical hp = 745.7 W. Metric PS (Pferdestärke) = 735.5 W, about 1.4% less. Kilowatts are the official SI unit used on EU spec sheets.

Is higher horsepower always faster?

Not alone. Acceleration depends on power-to-weight ratio, gearing, and where the power sits in the rev range. A 200 hp car weighing 1,000 kg can out-drag a 300 hp car at 2,000 kg.
