FAQ

How much water does a person use per day?

A typical four-person household uses 350–480 litres a day — roughly 90–120 L per person. Consumption above 150 L per person usually traces to long showers, leaks, or heavy garden watering.

Why is sewerage often charged per litre of water?

Utilities assume most tap water returns to the sewer, so the sewer rate multiplies your metered volume even though garden use never reaches the drain. Some providers offer a second, deducted meter for irrigation.

What uses the most water at home?

Showers and toilets dominate indoor use, followed by laundry. A 9 L/min showerhead running 10 minutes uses 90 L — more than five modern toilet flushes — so shower length and head flow are the two biggest levers on your bill.
