FAQ
How accurate is this BAC estimate?
The Widmark formula gives a rough population average. Real BAC varies with food, medication, genetics, and drinking pace. Only a breathalyzer or blood test is reliable — never drive based on a calculator.
How fast does BAC fall?
The body metabolizes roughly one standard drink per hour (about 0.015% BAC per hour). Time is the only thing that lowers BAC — coffee and cold showers do not.
What is the legal limit?
0.08% in most of the US, 0.05% in many countries including Australia and much of Europe, and zero tolerance for drivers under 21 in the US. Penalties rise sharply above these levels.
