FAQ

How is rebar weight calculated?

Weight per meter follows the formula 0.00617 × d² (with d in millimeters), derived from steel's 7850 kg/m³ density. A Ø12 bar weighs about 0.89 kg/m, so 100 m of it is roughly 89 kg.

How do I convert spacing into a bar count?

Divide the dimension by the spacing and add one for the edge bar — a 4 m width at 30 cm spacing needs ⌊4/0.3⌋ + 1 = 14 bars running that direction. Both grid directions are counted, then a small lap allowance is added per bar.

How much extra steel should I order?

Add 5–10% for laps, ties, cutting waste, and bent bars at openings. This estimate already includes a modest 25 cm lap per bar, so round the final weight up to the nearest standard bundle size when purchasing.
