FAQ
What is a good pace per 100 m?
Recreational swimmers typically cruise at 2:00–2:30 per 100 m, fitness swimmers around 1:40–2:00, and competitive pool swimmers go under 1:20. Elite sprinters break 1:00 in a flat-out 100 m race.
How do I use pace in a workout?
Most pool sessions are written as repeats, for example 8 × 100 m at your goal pace with 20 seconds rest. Knowing your steady pace lets you set the send-off interval so the rest actually happens.
Why count laps instead of distance?
In a 25 m pool, 100 m is exactly 4 laps, so pace work maps neatly onto lap counting. In odd-sized pools the calculator's lap split shows your average per length instead.
