FAQ
Why isn't one dog year seven human years?
Dogs mature extremely fast early and slow later. A 1-year-old dog is already ~31 in human terms, while a 10-year-old small dog is only ~56. The ×7 rule massively oversimplifies.
Do smaller dogs really live longer?
Yes — giants average 8–10 years while small breeds often reach 14–16. That's why this calculator adjusts by breed size.
When is a dog a senior?
Giant breeds around 6, large ~7, medium ~8–9, and small breeds often not until 10–12 — hence size-based vet screening schedules.
