FAQ
How much area does a litre of paint cover?
Most interior emulsions cover 10–13 m² per litre on prepared walls; primers and deep base colours can drop to 8 m². Always use the figure printed on your specific tin — brands vary more than the math does.
Do I really need two coats?
Almost always for colour changes and any deep hue over light. The second coat uses slightly less paint than the first because the porous surface is already sealed — buying for 2 × first-coat area leaves a safe margin.
Should I deduct doors and windows?
Deduct them, but don't overdo it — the saved paint gets spent on cutting-in edges and the frame sides themselves. This calculator uses standard 1.8 m² doors and 1.5 m² windows, which leaves a workable buffer.
