Why do timesheets use decimal hours?

Payroll systems multiply the hourly rate by decimal hours (7.5 h), which is easier than converting 7 h 30 min by hand.

How do I handle overnight shifts?

If the end time is earlier than the start, the calculator treats it as the next day. A 22:00–06:00 shift counts the full 8 hours minus breaks.

Do paid breaks count as worked hours?

That depends on local labor law and company policy. This calculator deducts whatever break minutes you enter, so enter only unpaid time.
