FAQ

How much does a coffee habit cost per year?

One 4.50 café latte every workday is about 1,170 a year; two a day doubles that. Pods land near 120 yearly, and drip coffee costs under 60. The gap between café and home brewing is the famous "latte factor".

Is the latte factor real?

Mathematically yes, psychologically it's overrated. Skipping coffee saves real money, but the invested line shows the honest ceiling: about 16,000 after ten years for a one-a-day habit. Worth caring about — just not a retirement plan by itself.

How much cheaper is home brewing?

Roughly 95%. Decent beans at 18 per 340 g bag make about 16 cups — just over 1 of coffee, or ~0.20 per cup with filters and water. Add milk for a latte-style drink and you're still under 0.60 versus 4.50 at the café.
