FAQ

What launch angle gives maximum range?

Exactly 45° when launch and landing are at the same height in vacuum. Raising or lowering the launch pad shifts the optimum — downhill shots favor flatter angles, uphill favors steeper ones.

Does air resistance matter?

Yes, at real speeds. Drag shrinks range by 30–50% for sports balls and far more for bullets. Use the vacuum numbers here as the theoretical upper bound, then correct empirically for your case.

Why does 30° and 60° give the same range?

Complementary angles share the same sin(2θ) in the range formula, so 30° and 60° are twins — the low shot flies flat and fast, the high one floats longer with the same landing spot.
